We live near a lot of vineyards. I pass by one frequently and on the morning October 30th 2004 the sky was incredibly blue after the previous night's rain and the sun's light was reflected in the wet grapes. I took several photographs and just in time. The grapes were harvested the next day. When I came home from photographing the grapes I found my old dog, Cookie, unable to walk. She has been suffering from seizures since May and this time she was not going to recover. She crossed the rainbow bridge on November 1 and I began to work on the quilt the next day. I worked on the quilt every day for four weeks, sewing on approximately 4000-5000 seed beads. It was my way of working through my sorrow.
